Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend, Vt., received the largest increase at 7.1 percent, the report said. Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, Vt., was the only hospital to receive a decrease, which will be 3.4 percent.
The average hospital budget increase is actually smaller than previous years, as state regulators approved a 5.4 percent increase in 2010 and a 5.9 percent increase in 2009.
This regulatory system and process will be replaced next fall by the Green Mountain Care Board, the group in charge of Vermont’s single-payor initiative toward a global hospital budget.
