County commissioners OK’d a $611 million budget for the facility, which is expecting about $629 million in costs next year. Officials said UMC will counter the deficit with cash reserves.
Officials said decreased medical reimbursements from the government and uncompensated treatments are partly responsible for the center’s decreased revenue, according to the report.
