The renovated tower, which will be five-stories, will be named the Donald & Priscilla Hunt Tower in honor of the donors.
Construction on the tower began in January 2017 and is expected to be completed in 2018. Its total cost is $33 million.
The new tower will house a 40-bed transitional care unit, a 32-bed medical-surgical unit, a postpartum mother-baby unit as well as a neonatal intensive care unit with 25 rooms.
“We are truly inspired by the generosity of the Hunt family,” Craig Leach, the Torrance Memorial Medical Center’s president and CEO, told the Daily Breeze. “They are transforming services for our community through this gift and, in doing, so setting an example for others in their position to give back.”
