Tenet's Conifer contracted for RCM at 11 WellStar hospitals

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare's revenue cycle subsidiary, Conifer Health Solutions, in July started serving six additional WellStar Health System hospitals, according to Tenet's second quarter 2016 results webcast.

Conifer was already serving five Atlanta-area hospitals that Tenet sold to Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar in April for $575 million in cash. These included Atlanta Medical Center; East Point, Ga.-based Atlanta Medical Center-South Campus; Roswell, Ga.-based North Fulton Hospital; Griffin, Ga.-based Spalding Regional Hospital; and Jackson, Ga.-based Sylvan Grove Hospital.

Conifer is now contracted to provide revenue cycle services at all of WellStar's 11 hospitals in Georgia.

WellStar declined to comment on the contract, citing a confidentiality agreement.

Tenet said its Conifer and United Surgical Partners International subsidiaries both experienced double-digit revenue growth in the second quarter of 2016 when compared to the same period of the year prior. However, after accounting for an increase in operating expenses and litigation reserves, Tenet ended the quarter in the red.
