Last August, Little Rock-based Arkansas Children’s Hospital leaders released plans to build a 24-bed, 225,000-square-foot pediatric facility in Springdale. The new campus is part of ACH’s broader plan to expand pediatric services and patient access across the state.
Below are four things to know about the board’s move to help fund the project.
1. Springdale’s public facilities board asked for permission from the city council Tuesday to sell up to $85 million in bonds to help finance construction, equipment and furnishings for the new facility.
2. The estimated cost to build, furnish and operate the hospital for the next five years is estimated at around $184 million, according to Arkansas Business.
3. Under Mississippi law, the city board is allowed to issue bonds for private projects that meet public need.
4. Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm for the children’s hospital, hopes to raise at least $70 million to help with financing.
