Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health, a health system owned by private equity firm Apollo Global Management, has largely grown over the years through partnerships with nonprofit health systems.
However, the health system does still invest in acquisitions. In early June, Lifepoint acquired eight community hospitals from Louisville, Ky.-based ScionHealth.
Lifepoint now comprises 147 acute care, rehabilitation and behavioral health hospitals, a Lifepoint Health spokesperson confirmed with Becker’s. It was acquired by Apollo Global Management in 2018 for $5.6 billion.
The spokesperson confirmed that the health system’s largest joint venture partners are:
1. Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health, which formed a joint venture with Lifepoint in 2011. The two have 15 facilities together, according to Duke Health’s website;
2. Mercy St. Louis with seven facilities;
3. Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health with seven facilities;
4. Arlington-based Texas Health Resources with five facilities;
4. Indianapolis-based Community Health Network with five facilities.
Lifepoint holds joint ventures with more than 20 systems, including Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care, Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, Seattle-based Providence Swedish and Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital.
