6 health systems with strong finances

Here are six health systems with strong operational metrics and solid financial positions based on recent reports from Moody's Investors Service, Fitch Ratings and Standard & Poor's Ratings Services.

1. Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health has an "AA-" rating and stable outlook with S&P and an "Aa3" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. The system has strong market positions in Dallas and Temple, Texas, strong revenue growth and good liquidity.

2. BayCare Health System has an "Aa2" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. The Tampa, Fla.-based system has excellent liquidity and leading market position.

3. Iowa City-based University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has an "Aa2" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. The system has strong market share and good debt coverage.

4. San Diego-based Scripps Health has an "AA" rating and stable outlook with Fitch. The system has a strong financial profile, excellent management practices and solid market footprint.

5. Pinehurst, N.C.-based FirstHealth of the Carolinas has an "AA" rating and stable outlook with Fitch. The system has strong market position, robust liquidity and moderate debt burden.

6. Memorial Healthcare System has an "AA" rating and stable outlook with S&P. The Hollywood, Fla.-based system has strong operating performance and solid enterprise profile.
