Southwestern Health Resources, BCBS Texas reach agreement

Farmers Branch, Texas-based Southwestern Health Resources and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas have reached a new contract agreement.

The insurer and health system went out of network April 1. The two sides reached a new deal April 4, according to an update from SWHR.

The split affected seven BCBS plans, including commercial, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans, according to a statement on BCBS Texas’ website. 

Appointments from April 1 onward will be covered at in-network rates.

Southwestern Health Resources includes UT Southwestern and Texas Health Resources hospitals and clinics. The system has 31 hospitals and more than 7,000 providers, according to its website.
