The Act would allow insurers to offer group health insurance plans that they offered on any date in 2013, even if the plans do not meet the “minimum essential coverage” requirement of the PPACA. Under the Act, insurers would be permitted to sell the non-compliant plans until Dec. 31, 2018.
Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) proposed the bill, which passed the House in a 247-167 vote earlier in September.
