Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings has shared plans to lay off 125 employees at its Orange, Calif.-based Prospect Medical Group location, according to a June 20 WARN notice obtained by Becker’s.
The layoffs are due to ” the sale of Prospect’s assets” at the facility, the notice said. Prospect has been working since November to offload 10 of its 16 hospitals amid financial challenges.
Most recently, Prospect shuttered its Upland-based Crozer Health. The closure included Upland-based Crozer-Chester Medical Center, which closed May 2, and Ridley Park, Pa.-based Taylor Hospital, which shut down April 26. The closures also resulted in a combined 2,651 employee layoffs.
Some of the affected California roles include finance coordinator, outpatient care coordinator, program manager, inpatient care coordinator, senior data analyst and pharmacy specialist. Prospects’ assets sale is expected to close between July 1 and July 14.
“Affected employees will continue to receive any pay and benefits due to them as an employee, up until the termination of their employment,” the notice said. “Employees receiving less than 60 days’ notice will receive pay and benefits in lieu of notice in accordance with the WARN Acts.”
Becker’s has reached out to Prospect Medical Holdings for comment and will update this story should more information become available.
