Note: The expected primary payor bears the major financial responsibility for a hospital stay.

  2. Private insurance — 34 percent
  3. Medicaid — 20 percent
  4. Uninsured — 6 percent
  5. Other — 3 percent

Note: Payors such as Workers’ Compensation, TRICARE, CHAMPUS, CHAMPVA, Title V and other government programs fall into the category of "other." Self-pay or no charge stays were included in the category of "uninsured."
