PeaceHealth plans to sell approximately 50 acres of residential and undeveloped property near Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Ore.
The parcel sits along the McKenzie River and is zoned for medium-density residential, the Vancouver, Wash.-based health system said in a Sept. 19 news release shared with Becker’s.
“PeaceHealth has owned this parcel of land since the initial purchase of RiverBend with the plan of one day listing it for sale and residential development,” said Jim McGovern, MD, chief hospital executive for the PeaceHealth Oregon Network. “With the state’s housing expansion goals in mind, that time has come.”
News of the planned sale comes as PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital is under construction and Timber Springs Behavioral Health Hospital, a 96-bed, freestanding facility, is scheduled to break ground in Springfield in the near future, according to the health system.
PeaceHealth said it will retain more than 40 acres of land for future projects near RiverBend hospital.
The nonprofit Catholic health system has approximately 16,000 caregivers, nearly 3,200 physicians and clinicians, more than 160 clinics and nine medical centers across three states.
