Bend, Ore.-based St. Charles Health System will eliminate a small number of leadership positions in support services areas of the organization, according to a June 23 news release shared with Becker’s.
St. Charles said the changes include 22 filled positions and 23 vacant positions, affecting less than 1% of its workforce. The system also anticipates ongoing work to bring titles into alignment over time. No direct patient care positions are affected.
The changes follow an evaluation of leadership spans of control, titles and market alignment across the health system and are intended to support future growth, according to the release.
“The changes we are making today are about setting ourselves up for a more sustainable and scalable structure for the future,” incoming President and CEO Michael Hartke said in the release.
St. Charles Health System operates four hospitals and multiple family care and specialty clinics across Central Oregon. The nonprofit health system employs more than 5,000 caregivers.
