Obama Will Oppose Raising Medicare Age in Negotiations, State of Union

President Barack Obama, once open to the option of raising the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67, will oppose the measure in his State of the Union address tonight as well as in budget negotiations with Republican lawmakers going forward, according to a report by the Washington Post.

The president will continue to consider lowering the cost-of-living adjustment for Social Security increases, a move that delighted GOP deficit hawks and incensed Democrats during fiscal cliff deal talks at the end of last year.
