That total includes more than 114,000 full-time-equivalent jobs with a payroll of $7.9 billion, $2.5 billion in purchased services such as contracted labor and pharmaceuticals and $435 million in state income taxes paid by hospital employees.
New Jersey hospitals also provide more than $1.3 billion in charity care to the state’s indigent population, according to the report.
