On the hospital website, officials said the closing is to consolidate services into Kindred Hospital Northland, also in Kansas City.
“By doing so, we can concentrate our resources into providing the best care possible for the community,” they wrote. “We are always evaluating our portfolio and looking for opportunities to reposition our assets so that we can provide services where and when patients need it most.”
The hospital said it is no longer taking admissions and as of now expects to complete the transition within 60 days. Their overall aim is for the closure to be completed by Jan. 6, 2018.
An estimated 115 employees will be laid off as a result of the closure, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing. This includes 24 registered nurses, 14 registered respiratory therapists and 15 certified nursing assistants.
