Zachary, La.-based Lane Regional Medical Center is not closing, but facility leaders are evaluating service line adjustments to meet community and patient needs, a spokesperson for the hospital said in a Sept. 25 statement shared with Becker’s.
“Lane Regional Medical Center is not closing,” the statement said. “No additional service-line changes have been finalized at this time.”
In mid-August, the 131-bed hospital eliminated 14 positions Aug. 6, including leadership, physician roles and staff, to ensure its long-term financial stability. It also ended its allergy, asthma and immunology services Sept. 4.
Lane Regional’s board of commissioners also approved the exploration of a strategic affiliation in late July with another healthcare organization to help it expand services and invest in its future.
The hospital’s service line evaluation remains ongoing, with no specific details or timeline currently available.
“If decisions are made that affect patients or the services they receive, Lane will communicate that information directly and in advance whenever possible,” the statement said.
