Hospital prices were up 2.9 percent from Oct. 2008, and the general medical and surgical hospitals subgroup saw a 1.1 percent increase in Oct. 2009 and was also up 2.9 percent from the same period in 2008, according to the report.
The PPI for hospitals measures changes in actual or expected reimbursement received for services across the full range of payor types, including negotiated contract rate from the payor plus any portion expected to be paid by the patient, according to the report.
