This is the first financial statement Highmark Health has released since the company reorganized its corporate structure and launched its own hospital network.
The health system said its bottom line was affected by a one-time “goodwill impairment charge” of $311 million related to its acquisition of West Penn Allegheny Health System.
Highmark Health had $15.8 billion in revenues and $15.98 billion in expenses in 2013, according to the report.
