Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System's revenue grew from $4.48 billion in 2012 to $4.52 billion in 2013.
The health system's expenses also increased. Its benefits, supplies, plant operations, salaries and health plan expenses were all up in 2013.
Henry Ford Health System had a $12 million operating loss in 2013, which was partially attributable to the installation of its electronic health records system and a failed merger with Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health System, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
However, the health system was still able to post a net income of $500,000 for the year due to the sale of its dialysis unit last August.
