HCA to donate up to $400K to Kentucky flood relief efforts

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare plans to donate up to $400,000 in funding, colleague matching contributions and in-kind donations to East Kentucky areas dealing with floods.

HCA will break up these funds, donating $100,000 each to the American Red Cross and Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund; $50,000 to grants for Louisville, Ky.-based Galen College of Nursing students affected by flooding; $100,000 directly to affected communities; and $50,000 in colleague matching contributions.

"Our thoughts are with those affected by the devastating floods in Kentucky, including our Galen nursing students and colleagues," Sam Hazen, CEO of HCA Healthcare, said in an Aug. 8 press release. "As search and rescue efforts continue, we are proud to help these communities recover and rebuild."

Since July 26, 13 Eastern Kentucky counties have incurred heavy flooding, resulting in at least 37 deaths and communities without electricity, water or proper access to roadways.
