HCA revenue broken down by payer

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare posted $15.86 billion in net operating revenue in the second quarter, with managed care accounting for almost 50 percent of revenue, according to an earnings report published July 31.

Payer mix by net patient service revenues for the quarter ended June 30:

Commercial: $7.8 billion (49.4 percent)

Medicare: $2.6 billion (16.2 percent) 

Managed Medicare: $2.5 billion (16 percent)

Other: $910 million (5.7 percent)

Managed Medicaid: $894 million (5.6 percent)

Medicaid: $742 million (4.7 percent)

International: $377 million (2.4 percent)

Payer mix by admissions for the quarter ended June 30:

Commercial: 30 percent

Managed Medicare: 25 percent

Medicare: 21 percent

Managed Medicaid: 13 percent

Uninsured: 7 percent

Medicaid: 4 percent
