For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Sept. 19-23

Three of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices fall last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest decrease in share price, with shares falling 15.4 percent.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw its share price fall 0.5 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings and Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw their share prices rise last week.

Here is how the five operators’ stock prices stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $10.35 per share (down 15.4 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $76.12 per share (up 1.1 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $58.64 per share (up 2.2 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $21.97 per share (down 4.9 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $122.93 per share (down 0.5 percent)
