Smart Choice MRI, a Mequon, Wis.-based provider of MRIs, is the first clinic of its kind to offer every MRI scan and reading for $600 or less. Scans are interpreted by Cleveland Clinic radiologists.
It already operates three Chicago-area clinics in Schaumburg, Glenview and Skokie, Ill., and has another slated to open in downtown Chicago in July. The company hosts six clinics in Wisconsin and plans to expand into Minneapolis in the fall.
“A major market shift is occurring in the healthcare industry that’s driving more value-based medicine and consumerism, safe and effective care at a reasonable cost that also recognizes patient choice. The most forward-thinking hospital systems are responding to that shift by forging unique partnerships that better serve people,” Rick Anderson, CEO of Smart Choice MRI, said in a statement. “We’re proud to partner with Edward-Elmhurst. They understand that offering a high quality healthcare choice to its community benefits everyone.”
Edward-Elmhurst is the second health system to invest in the company, following a $3 million investment from Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare.
