Over the next two years, New Hampshire hospitals stand to lose $230 million in Medicaid reimbursements, which prompted 10 hospitals to sue the state in federal court over the cuts. However, the state plans to also save more than $400,000 by altering rules and eligibility requirements for Medicaid billable services for home-visiting prenatal and post-birth care as well as child and family services support.
Those programs are pretexts to hospital care, and according to the report, the cuts could dwindle the support network that hospitals and other community healthcare providers have provided in the past.
