Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, part of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, received $6 million from the Christy-Houston Foundation to support an ongoing expansion project, according to the Murfreesboro Post.
The expansion project includes adding 72 patient beds and constructing a clinical decision unit to the hospital's emergency department.
The gift kicks off a 2018 fundraising campaign that aims to financially support the expansion.
"We are honored to accept this generous gift from the Christy-Houston Foundation which serves as a remarkable catalyst for the expansion of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital," said Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital CEO Gordon Ferguson, according to the report.
The Christy-Houston Foundation also donated the lead gift for the capital campaign to construct the existing Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital facility.
