Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare will use the $2.5 million grant — including $1.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act and $1 million from the state — for hospital renovation costs and to develop outpatient services at its new ChristianaCare West Grove (Pa.) campus in Jennersville.
The health system spent $8 million to acquire the 63-bed hospital, which has been closed since Dec. 31, according to the report.
ChristianaCare said that the hospital needs significant renovation in areas including information technology and laboratory space. It projects that it will take a year or more to reopen the facility.
“We’re making great progress in our planning, and we’re looking forward to being able to share plans with the community as soon as they’re ready,” Douglas Azar, ChristianaCare’s senior vice president for strategic clinical integration, told the Journal.
