CGHS CFO Rhonda Perry issued a statement indicating the health system has signed an agreement with BCBS for its physicians, and the health insurer has also made a commitment to sign an agreement for the system’s hospitals by the end of business today.
“This assures that we are in network and business will continue as usual for each of our BCBS patients,” Ms. Perry said in the statement. “We are extremely pleased that their care will continue as usual with no interruptions.”
Earlier this week, CGHS and its affiliates announced they were preparing to terminate their contract with BCBS today. Following nearly nine months of negotiations and previous threats from CGHS to terminate their contract, the health system and the insurer initially announced in late April that they had reached an agreement on their physician and hospital contracts. However, CGHS CFO Rhonda Perry said in the release that a lack of effort from BCBS toward good faith resolution had “seriously jeopardized” the agreement.
