The gift comes from the estate of Susanne and Ervin Bard. It will support clinical and research advancements at a 450,000-square-foot facility that, in light of the gift, has been renamed to honor the Bards. The Susanne and Ervin Bard Pavilion houses several of Cedars-Sinai’s renowned institutes, centers and research facilities, including the Smidt Heart Institute and the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Bard passed away in 2006 and 2021, respectively. Through volunteering efforts and donations, the health system received routine support from the Bards.
“The generosity exhibited by the Bards was extraordinary throughout their lifetimes and now as part of their legacy,” Thomas Priselac, president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai, said in a news release. “This amazing gift has cleared new pathways to continue the pioneering research and thoughtful care that Cedars-Sinai is dedicated to delivering.”
