California health system to invest $14M to support access to rural healthcare

Bakersfield, Calif.-based Kern Health System's Enhanced Medical Care program will invest $14 million to help community members access health services, 23ABC reported Sept. 6.

The program aids patients with transportation to medical appointments, daycare and translators to remove common rural healthcare barriers.

Funds will also be used for a new clinic in Weedpatch, Calif., and expanding recuperative and respite care within Kern Health's network.
