The hospital’s Center for Community Health and Health Equity began its investment with $640,000 granted to 14 community organizations. The grants range from $20,000 to $100,000 per year for three years.
The initiative will prioritize five neighborhoods — Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Mission Hill and Roxbury — based on community psychological wellness, employment development opportunities and health inequity issues.
Eighty-six organizations applied for the grants.
