Errors surface on Illinois online ACA marketplace

Botched data entry may be to blame for why details of some Illinois health plans offered on the federal exchange this open enrollment are inaccurate, Chicago Tribune reports.

As of Wednesday, the HealthCare.gov online market sported Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care as out-of-network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois’ BlueCare Direct and Blue Precision plans. An Advocate spokesperson said it is working with the insurer to address the issue quickly, which may have been a result of how network data was entered in the online federal system.

In addition, Urbana, Ill.-based Health Alliance Medical Plan offerings were not listed on the federal online market. A Health Alliance spokesperson told Chicago Tribune the problem could be attributed to “technical reasons,” and will be alleviated by Nov. 1.

While Health Alliance said all data was submitted correctly, HHS spokesperson Jonathan Gold said “a very small number of plans are currently suppressed because inaccurate data was submitted” to federal officials.
