Atrium Health donates $5M for rural healthcare

Although the partnership between Atrium Health and Morganton, N.C.-based Blue Ridge HealthCare has ended, Atrium is donating $5 million to the Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation to improve rural healthcare.

“As our partnership with Atrium Health concludes, we want to thank them for their support over the years and for this important contribution in support of rural health and our communities,” Blue Ridge HealthCare CEO Kathy Bailey said in a Sept. 30 news release. “Our community is better today thanks to what we were able to achieve together in improving health throughout the region.”

Blue Ridge HealthCare announced in April that it was cutting ties with Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health to join Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health. The two organizations finalized their management services agreement Oct. 1.
