Here are five things to know.

1. Engineers previously identified structural problems at the Main Clinic. Staff members and patients had to vacate the building due to the issues, and were later relocated to other facilities, according to the report. Altru ultimately decided it was necessary to replace the Main Clinic.

2. The $40 million for the replacement is part of a total of $115 million in bonds Altru seeks to issue.

3. Hospital CFO Dwight Thompson told the Grand Forks Herald the remaining $75 million in bonds will go toward financing existing Altru debt at a decreased interest rate.

4. The Grand Forks City Council has authorized the issuance of the revenue bonds, which must be sold via the city, according to the report.

5. The timeline for the facility replacement project is unclear, as that depends on when Altru can issue the bonds, according to the Grand Forks Herald.
