Allina Health operating income soars 61.9% in Q2

Minneapolis-based Allina Health reported operating income of nearly $44 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015, up 61.9 percent from operating income of $27.2 million for the same period a year ago, according to the system’s recently released unaudited financial statements.

The system reported revenue of $940 million for the second quarter of FY 2015, up from revenue of $873.5 million for the same period of 2014. The system reported that its net patient service revenue increased to $875.5 million in the second quarter of this year, up from net patient service revenue of $824.1 million in the same period of 2014.

The system took a hit on its investments in the second quarter of FY 2015, but it still ended the quarter with a net surplus of $52.2 million. That’s down slightly from Allina’s net surplus of $53.8 million in the second quarter of 2014.
