Here are four things to know.

1. AdvantEdge is a Warren, N.J.-based billing, coding and practice management company. PMI is a Baltimore-based medical billing company focused on pathology, radiology and emergency medicine physician groups.

2. Through the acquisition, AdvantEdge takes on a greater presence in the Mid-Atlantic region, according to the companies.

3. AdvantEdge President and CEO David Langsam called the combination “a great fit for AdvantEdge as we continue to execute our growth plan, and for PMI and its clients as the healthcare ecosystem becomes even more complex, sophisticated and technology dependent.”

4. Dave Nicholson, former president of PMI and now executive vice president with AdvantEdge, said: “The strategic decision to align our company with AdvantEdge was about expanding our resources to enhance that commitment to excellence. With AdvantEdge’s expertise across all aspects of revenue cycle management, interfacing with EMRs, clinical information platforms, and their web-based business analytics reporting tools, AdvantEdge Analytics, we’ll be able to strengthen and expand our combined range of services, resources, and expertise.”
