4 CMS payment model updates

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following payment model updates from CMS or HHS in October:

1. CMS is now taking applications for kidney care payment models. Participation in the model would begin in 2020. 

2. CMS has updated its tool identifying eligible clinicians who qualify for alternative payment model participation for Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act's Quality Payment Program, according to the American Hospital Association. Read more here.

3. HHS, which CMS is a part of, endorsed a Medicare alternative payment model focused on emergency physicians, according to the American College of Emergency Physicians, which developed the model. Read more here.

4. CMS' Innovation Center will delay the start of a new primary care payment model by a year, according to timeline updates on the model's information page. Read more here.
