Here are the emergency department closures that Becker’s has reported since Jan. 8:
1. Two emergency rooms are expected to close as part of the planned closure of two Hospital Sisters Health System hospitals, Eau Claire, Wis.-based Sacred Heart Hospital and Chippewa Falls, Wis.-based St. Joseph’s Hospital, and regional health centers the system operates with Green Bay, Wis.-based Prevea Health..
2. The emergency department at the Port Arthur-based Medical Center of Southeast Texas Beaumont campus closed, along with the campus itself, on Feb. 2. TMCST is part of Dallas-based Steward Health Care.
3. Kettering (Ohio) Health shuttered its emergency department at Kettering Health Piqua on Feb. 1 due to a shift in the types of needed care over the last 18 months, which has led to less “true emergency cases” and more demand for other care types, according to a Kettering Health statement shared with Becker’s.
