Net revenue by payor source
• Medicaid: 35 percent
• Commercial: 27 percent
• Medicare: 21 percent
• Federal/state/local payments: 11 percent
• Other: 4 percent
• Uninsured: 2 percent
Sources of financing for unreimbursed care
• Federal/state/local payments: 30 percent
• Other: 26 percent
• Medicaid disproportionate share hospital payments: 24 percent
• Supplemental Medicaid payments: 11 percent
• Medicare disproportionate share hospital payments: 5 percent
• Medicare indirect medical education: 5 percent
Hospital operating margins (national average)
• All hospitals: 7.2 percent
• NAPH members: 2.3 percent
• NAPH members without Medicaid DSH: -6.1 percent
• NAPH members without Medicaid DSH or other supplemental payments: -10.6 percent
