10 Payers With the Least Days in Accounts Receivable

Cloud-based software services provider athenahealth has released its 2014 PayerView Report, which leverages the company's data to provide insight into provider-payer relationships and ranks healthcare payers based on various metrics.

One of those metrics is days in accounts receivable, or the average length of time it takes to receive payment from the date of charge entry to remittance post. Here are 10 of the payers with the least DAR, according to athenahealth.

1. Highmark Blue Shield of Pennsylvania — 16.6 DAR
2. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Pennsylvania — 16.9
3. Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina — 18.6
4. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island — 18.8
5. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Connecticut — 19.1
6. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado — 19.7
7. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona — 19.8
8. Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico — 19.8
9. Capital BlueCross of Pennsylvania — 20.1
10. Blue Cross Blue Shield of West Virginia — 20.1
