10 Payers With the Most Benefit Reliability

Cloud-based software services provider athenahealth has released its 2014 PayerView Report, which leverages the company's data to provide insight into provider-payer relationships and ranks healthcare payers based on various metrics.

One of those metrics is benefit reliability, or the percent of patient responsibilities in which the payer returned the correct patient responsibility information at the time of service. Here are the 10 of the top-ranked payers for benefit reliability, according to the report.

1. North Carolina Blue Medicare — 99.2 percent
2. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care — 99 percent
3. Highmark Blue Shield of Pennsylvania — 98.5 percent
4. Network Health of Massachusetts — 98.5 percent
5. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts — 98.3 percent
6. Medicare Part B of Alabama — 98.3 percent
7. Medicare Part B of South Carolina — 98.3 percent
8. Medicare Part B of Georgia — 98.2 percent
9. Medicare Part B of Maine — 98.2 percent
10. Regence Blue Shield of Washington — 98.1 percent
