The eight-story tower at WVU Medicine Children’s will have a 25-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 61-bed neonatal ICU, a 39-bed pediatric acute care unit and a 30-bed obstetrics department, for a total of 155 beds.
Additionally, the tower will have several operating rooms, pharmacy services, endoscopy units, diagnostic imaging suites and a medical office building.
“This is our moment,” J. Philip Saul, MD, executive vice president for WVU Medicine Children’s said. “We’re already the center for specialty care to high-risk mothers, premature infants and children with life-threatening conditions through adolescent to adulthood. The need for our services is growing at such a rapid pace that the creation of this hospital is a must.”
The project is scheduled for completion in 2020.
