UPMC to open business operations center in Erie: 4 things to know

Pittsburgh-based UPMC and UPMC Health Plan will open a business operations center for hospital support services in Erie, Pa.

Here are four things to know.

1. The business operations center will be housed in a 70,000-square-foot building purchased by UPMC Hamot.

2. UPMC Hamot purchased the building through a $300,000 grant from the state’s department of community and economic development, according to a news release.

3. UPMC plans to invest $12 million in the business operations center.

4. Hospital officials expect the business operations center to open this fall and create nearly 200 full-time jobs within three years.
