UNC Hospitals won approval last year to add 29 beds to the same hospital.

The Hillsborough campus is building a four-story wing to hold the additional beds next to the original three-story hospital, which houses 72 beds, according to the report.

UNC Hospitals has also requested approval from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to add nine beds at its flagship campus, which currently is licensed for 727 beds, according to the report. The nine additional beds are slated to cost $9.7 million, which accounts for extensive renovations, with expected completion in July 2020.

The requested 32 beds at Hillsborough are expected to cost $160,000, with projected completion in October 2020, according to the report.
