U of Vermont Medical Center to open $187M tower June 1

The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington will open a $187 million patient tower June 1, according to the VT Digger.

The 180,000-square-foot facility will have seven floors offering specialty surgery, cardiology, oncology and orthopedic services. Four floors, which will each have 32 rooms, are dedicated to inpatient care. Two  floors will serve as mechanical or support areas, and the bottom level will be the new emergency department ambulance entrance.

Construction on the building began in 2016.
