The three-story, 18-bed ICU cost $25 million to build, according to the report. The hospital designed the new ICU to meet the increasing demand of a growing population.
Four of the rooms will have ceiling lifts to move patients, and there are two isolation rooms designed for patients with infectious diseases, according to the report.
Jessica Kaszynski, director of communications for Texas Health Resources Foundation, said the health system has launched a capital campaign to raise $2 million from the community to offset the costs of the expansion. So far, nearly $1 million has been raised.
