Below are five quick facts.
1. SSM Health aims to better integrate the new hospital with neighboring Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
2. The master plan details larger intensive care units, all-private patient rooms, dedicated education spaces for SLU students and an expanded emergency department, along with areas for future campus expansion.
3. The price of the new hospital has increased to $550 million, up from the $500 million figure released in September.
4. SSM Health has not decided what it will do with the 83-year-old Desloge Tower, the iconic French Gothic Revival building that was home to SLU Hospital for more than 50 years, reports St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
5. Construction is slated to begin in late 2017 and finish by Sept. 1, 2020.
