Spectrum Health opens cardiovascular training center

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health opened a 2,700-square-foot cardiac simulation and education center Oct. 2, according to MLive.

The Jacob and Lois Mol Cardiovascular Simulation Center will allow medical professionals to practice complex heart procedures, such as heart catheter and vascular surgical interventions, without putting patients at risk.

At the center, medical staff can take a CAT scan of a patient and make a 3-D model of the patient. Then the medical professional can practice the procedure prior to working on the actual patient.

This is one of a few centers in the nation that has the simulation ammenities.
