Sky Lakes Medical Center, Oregon Health & Science University to build $50M clinic

Klamath Falls, Ore.-based SkyLakesMedicalCenter and Portland-based OregonHealth & ScienceUniversity are joining forces to build a new $50 million clinical and educational medical building in Klamath Falls, Ore., according to the Portland Business Journal.

The first $15 million of the project will come from 100-bed Sky Lakes Medical Center, and construction is slated to begin in 2017.

The new 88,000-square-foot building will be built on the west side of the Sky Lakes campus and will be comprised of a medical clinic, as well as OHSU education and research offices. It will also house the new academic headquarters for the OHSU Campus for Rural Health, according to the report.

OHSU President Joe Robertson, MD, told the Portland Business Journal the university's current $2 billion capital campaign will include funding for the collaboration with Sky Lakes.

OHSU and Sky Lakes also plan to create a charitable supporting organization to oversee the fundraising for the project, according to the report.
