Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, W.Va., is planning a $15.5 million expansion and modernization project that will double its number of operating rooms, according to The Register-Herald.
"The changing healthcare landscape requires us to think differently about how best to serve our community going forward," PMC CEO Derek Cimala said in a press release. "As more services are offered on an outpatient basis, we are focused on providing high-quality inpatient services that allow patients to remain close to home when hospital care is needed."
Demand has continued to grow for surgical services, the hospital's most utilized service, according to the report. The expansion will add two new ORs and two endoscopy/GI procedure rooms, as well as additional pre-op and recovery areas, according to the report.
The project will also include modernization of public and patient areas on the medical center's first and second floors.
Pending approval through the state's certificate of need process, construction on PMC is expected to begin in early 2018, according to the report.
